In December of 2000 I was appointed Interim Chief of Police for the Nahunta Police Department. Then in December of 2001 I was appointed Chief of Police by the City Council. It was a promotion and career opportunity that I had long looked forward to. Since becoming chief I have done my best to serve the citizens and provide the best police protection possible. Here are just a few highlights of my career as the Chief.
- Department placed 2nd in 2001 Governor's Challenge Awards.
- Department placed in top 5 statewide for Operation Click It or Ticket during 3 waves.
- Computerized agency records, operations, and management.
- Received grants totaling approximately $17,000.00.
- Increased department's drug arrests over previous years.
- Implemented field-training program for new officers.
