With 25 years of experience in Law Enforcement I have learned many invaluable lessons about the importance of being constantly in touch with the needs of the public I serve. I also have obtained the skills necessary for a position of this magnitude by being involved in the family business which has required me to maintain customer, employee and vendor relations over the past 30 years.

I will be a “working Sheriff” with a true open door policy. I will bring a proactive attitude, accompanied with strategic planning to address the safety, concerns and needs of the public. Community involvement is an integral part of effective law enforcement. I strongly encourage feedback from the citizens on the performance of the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office as well as my personal performance. I will arrange regular meetings in each area of the county to provide citizens the opportunity to express their concerns so that I can better serve them and our community.

I recognize the need for changes within the management of the Sheriff’s Office. I will implement programs focused on the retention of personnel in an effort to decrease the rate of high turnover. In doing so I believe this will improve the efficiency and proficiency of the Sheriff’s office by bringing an end to the need to continuously provide basic training to new hires. Only with an effective deployment of resources can law enforcement work together cohesively and strongly to assess and anticipate the problems in the community and find efficient solutions to those problems.

I take pride in my dedication and commitment to serve my community in any capacity needed. I am confident in my ability to effectively lead the Sheriff’s department to an exceptional term while actively involving the community in the process. As your Sheriff I am certain that you will soon realize I am not just another Sheriff, but a citizen like you, who can do what it takes to make our county the kind of county you are proud of.
